Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein attended a meeting at the White House after Jeff Sessions was asked to resign Wednesday, several outlets report. According to NBC News, White House officials said the 4:00 p.m. meeting was “previously scheduled.” Rosenstein was seen leaving the White House about an hour later. The deputy AG oversaw special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into potential Russian collusion and interference in the 2016 presidential election. The Justice Department indicated Wednesday that Matthew Whitaker, a prominent Mueller critic who has been named acting attorney general, will now oversee the Russia probe.
